Saint Matthew Youth Confirmation Program
What does the Confirmation Program look like? It is a one-year program that meets twice a month usually on Monday nights starting in the fall and ending in April with Confirmation. Meetings are 1 1/2 hours long. The students have additional responsibilities including attending the youth Confirmation Mass, usually the second Sunday of the month, attending Mass every Sunday and a weekend retreat. Students must have entered high school to sign up.
How do we prepare the teens for Confirmation? We bring teens closer to Jesus with activities that promote:
- Faith in the Eucharist
- Prayer and reflection
- A better understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation
- An understanding of the Bible in relation to the Catholic church
- An awareness in the importance of sexual abstinence
- An appreciation of the saints
- An understanding of the Church Catechism, especially the Sacrament of Confirmation.
