Saint Matthew Youth Confirmation Program

What does the Confirmation Program look like? It is a one-year program that meets twice a month usually on Monday nights starting in the fall and ending in April with Confirmation. Meetings are 1 1/2 hours long. The students have additional responsibilities including attending the youth Confirmation Mass, usually the second Sunday of the month, attending Mass every Sunday and a weekend retreat. Students must have entered high school to sign up.

How do we prepare the teens for Confirmation? We bring teens closer to Jesus with activities that promote:

Faith in the Eucharist
Prayer and reflection
A better understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation
An understanding of the Bible in relation to the Catholic church
An awareness in the importance of sexual abstinence
An appreciation of the saints
An understanding of the Church Catechism, especially the Sacrament of Confirmation.
