Grief Counseling
The Grief Support Ministry started 3 years ago, when Monsignor James McKay, the pastor of St. Matthew's, approached several people about forming a small group to reach out to families of parishioners who have died.The committee decided that we would send condolence cards to each family and offer our help and support. The week of All souls Day, we invite all of the family members of parishioners who have died during the year, to attend a special Mass. All others are welcome to attend also. We then have a small reception in the Parish Center with coffee and cookies. It gives the families an opportunity to talk among themselves and share common concerns and experiences. The Grief support ministry team offers any further help and assistance.
