Mass Intentions
From time to time it becomes necessary to clarify Church practice in regard to Mass Intentions.
We are happy to assist in scheduling such Masses for a personal intention, for the intention of others or for the repose of the Soul of your faithful departed, when the parish schedule allows.
The modest donation requested in this Archdiocese is $10.00 for each Mass Intention. The parish and priest may not receive more than one intention or donation for any one Mass.
Please be aware that no one ever “buys a Mass” or purchases the exclusive benefit of a Mass; and any suggestion of that is expressly forbidden by Church theology and law.
When a Mass Intention is scheduled at St. Matthew Catholic Church,

The name WILL be announced in writing in the bulletin for that week.

The priest MAY or MAY NOT mention the name aloud during the Mass.

The name MAY or MAY NOT be included in the General Intercessions during the Mass.
All of this conforms to Canon Law. Those who schedule Mass Intentions at St. Matthew’s freely do so with this understanding.
Required
